About - Chris Cain, Attorney-at-Law
Chris Cain is an attorney licensed to practice in both South Carolina and Texas, with a diverse legal background spanning corporate law, real estate, estate planning, litigation, environmental matters, and criminal law.
Chris grew up in North and South Carolina and attended the University of South Carolina before graduating from Coastal Carolina University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science. He subsequently attended Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida, where he earned his Juris Doctor.
Chris was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 2005 and the State Bar of Texas in 2019. He began his legal career in private practice, handling a broad range of matters, including personal injury, insurance, and real estate transactions. In 2007, he relocated to Houston, Texas, where his practice expanded to complex environmental matters involving some of the nation's largest oil companies, as well as securities litigation and shareholder disputes.
In 2016, Chris joined the Third Judicial Circuit Solicitor's Office under the Honorable Ernest A. Finney, III, serving as an Assistant Solicitor in Williamsburg County. In 2019, he joined the District Attorney's Offices in Van Zandt and Henderson Counties, where he prosecuted misdemeanor and felony offenses.
In 2024, Chris established a practice focused primarily on corporate law, business matters, estate planning, and real estate. Drawing on his varied experience in litigation, business, and government service, he brings a practical and comprehensive perspective to representing individuals, businesses, and their owners.
Although his practice has transitioned primarily to corporate and transactional matters, Chris has continued his commitment to public service by having served in the Williamsburg County Public Defender's Office, as well as, working with indigent defendants in Greenville and York Counties.
Chris is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the State Bar of Texas, the Sumter County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Outside of his practice, Chris is married to Yvonne, who is originally from Houston, Texas. In his free time, Chris enjoys traveling, playing golf, and attending concerts.
